Many women experience symptoms week before or during their period – this can be agonizing.  Why take a pain killer to fix this temporarily?  Why not use a simple home made remedy?

Use Cinnamon! Scientists have discovered that the compounds in cinnamon can stop muscle contractions.  Put 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon in your tea or in a cup of hot water and drink it.  You will feel relaxed and this will ease your discomfort.

Other tips that may help you:

  • Eat smaller, more-frequent meals.  This will reduce bloating and the sensation of fullness.
  • Limit salt and salty foods to reduce bloating and fluid retention.
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Avoid caffeine
  • Avoid foods that are rich in calcium
  • Eat fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
